The newest filler, JUVEDERM(TM), is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid-a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. JUVEDERM(TM) is injected under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel.

In addition, JUVEDERM(TM) injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.

Restylane is natural cosmetic dermal filler that has been approved by the FDA for use in moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

Along with collagen, hyaluronic acid plays a very important role in keeping skin healthy. Hyaluronic acid helps to "bind water" which is necessary to keep skin full and prevent dryness and wrinkling. As we age and lose collagen and hyaluronic acid, our skin loses the ability to hold moisture so skin folds and lines and wrinkles form readily. This, along with smoking, alcohol, sun exposure and poor nutrition, contribute to lines and wrinkles during the aging process. The middle layer of your of skin functions as the skin's support structure and contains the collagen, elastin and other biological substances - including hyaluronic acid. As we age the production of these substances decreases and the elastin fibers become looser and gather in formations, visible as formation of wrinkles, fine lines and folds. How do the fillers work?

Once in your skin, the fillers create volume, resulting in a healthy and vital appearance. When injected into the lip it can restore a more natural and/or sensuous look. In contrast to other biodegradable implants, these are not extracted from animals. This means no risk of allergic reaction. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore it also dissolves naturally with time and is integrated into your body's tissues. Restylane has been used in Europe and Canada for many years and has been approved in the United States.

Will I need recovery time?

There is usually no recovery time needed after Juvederm or Restylane injections.

Is treatment painful?

Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel allows our medical providers to administer it easily. Our medical providers may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area(s) to further minimize discomfort.

How long does treatment usually take?

The injection process takes about 15 minutes. If a numbing anesthetic is used, additional 30 minutes will be necessary prior to treatment.

How soon after treatment will I see results?

You will see an immediate improvement in the treatment area(s) and optimal results in 3 to 5 days.

How long do the treatments last?

The effect lasts approximately six months. You can schedule regular touch-up treatments to maintain the look you desire.
